Worth the Wait.
Lyal Strickland fans have been waiting a long time for his latest release, and early reviews say the wait was worth it.
Produced by legendary Ozark Mountain Daredevil founding member Larry Lee, “So Many Incidents” is a real breakout effort from the popular Buffalo, Missouri native. Writing and performing since he was thirteen, the twenty four year old singer/songwriter has developed a strong regional following, appearing often in venues in Fayetteville, Springfield, Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbia and many points in between.
In “So Many Incidents”, Lyal’s insightful lyrics, unique melodies and vocal stylings are supported by some of the best players in the Midwest, including Dave Painter, Ned “The Band” Wilkinson, Dave Wilson, Kelly Brown, Randle Chowning, Larry Lee, and Kristin Carroll. In addition to the ten fully produced songs, there are three live acoustic tracks… just Lyal and a guitar.
Nationally recognized graphic designer Patrick McWhirt used mementos and keepsakes from Lyal’s family on the CD, setting the tone on the cover with a valentine hand made by Lyal’s grandfather in the 1920’s over a collage of old family letters. Inside are images of Dallas County (MO) landscapes by noted Ozarks photographer Jim Mayfield. The result is a visually stunning eight-panel digipak and twenty-page booklet, with type large enough to read.
The Park Central Branch Library is a wonderful venue to present music, and the Springfield-Greene County Library has a special significance to Lyal, who played one of his first “gigs” for Teen Night at The Library Center.
